KHM ELECTRIC MOTORS

Excellence SINCE 1961

KHM was founded in 1961 in Thessaloniki by Spyros Damigos, an inspired entrepreneur with a clear vision for Greek industrial excellence. From the very beginning, our headquarters in the Oraiokastro Thessaloniki area integrated design, foundry, and assembly operations under one roof. We soon expanded with branches in downtown Thessaloniki, Larissa, and Athens, rapidly becoming the largest electric motor manufacturer in Greece during the 1970s and 1980s.

Our electric motors, known for their robustness, durability, and distinctive design, quickly earned a reputation for reliability across industries. We produced a wide range of motors, including our well-known three-phase squirrel cage motors (type OK) and slip ring three-phase motors (type DOK). Our vertical hollow shaft motors were not only engineered in-house but went on to set the standard for the type across Europe. We also developed specialized motors, such as the explosion-proof EOK series, and manufactured various types of industrial pumps.

With an unusually rich archive of technical documentation for our era, we’ve always placed a strong emphasis on engineering excellence and innovation. Our capabilities even extended to the aerospace sector, with components manufactured for Dassault Mirage aircrafts.

Today, we specialize in large-scale and heavy-duty electric motors, with a focus on performance, durability, and energy efficiency. A new era begins for KHM: with the introduction of high-efficiency motors, the adoption of state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques, a renewed management model, and the expansion of our R&D department. These developments enable us to design and deliver innovative new products that meet the evolving needs of modern industry—proudly continuing a legacy of Greek industrial ingenuity.
